Assistive devices are a range of equipment such as wheelchairs (manual and electric), crutches, prosthetic devices, hearing aids, etc. They are vital for people with disabilities as they enhance their participation, independence, and mobility.

These assistive devices benefit individuals with disabilities by:

  1. Promoting Equal Opportunities and Equity: Providing access to technology for people with disabilities promotes equality by offering them the same opportunities to access resources and services as others.
  2. Enhancing Independence: Assistive devices contribute to the increased independence of people with disabilities, whether in their professional environments or daily lives, boosting their confidence and ability to interact more actively within society.
  3. Providing Customized Tools: Assistive devices help offer tailored tools that meet the specific needs of individuals based on the type and nature of their disability, making their social experiences more effective and accommodating.
  4. Improving Accessibility: Assistive technology opens doors to broader access to information and content, helping enhance their awareness and improve their participation.

People with disabilities can benefit from various assistive devices and prosthetics provided by the Centers for Guidance and Assistance for Persons with Disabilities under the National Cooperation Foundation, available in all regions and provinces of the country.

Process for Obtaining Assistive Devices and Prosthetics:

The procedure for acquiring assistive devices and prosthetics is governed by the provisions of Decision No. 405 issued by the Director of the National Cooperation on November 1, 2022, which outlines the conditions for benefiting from these devices under the Social Protection and Social Cohesion Support Fund.

Required Documents to Obtain Assistive Devices and Prosthetics:

According to Article 1 of the above decision, persons with disabilities and in need may benefit from assistive devices and prosthetics. The application file, as stated in Article 2, consists of the following documents:

  1. A written request containing the full name, personal address, and phone number of the applicant.
  2. The request should be directed to the Director of National Cooperation.
  3. A copy of the national ID card or birth certificate if the beneficiary is a minor, along with a copy of the guardian’s ID card.
  4. A copy of the AMO (Mandatory Health Insurance) card or a social inquiry confirming the applicant’s social status and need for the requested device.
  5. A recent medical certificate indicating the type of disability and the required device (based on the social registry list as part of the new social protection policy and targeting organization).

It is important to ensure registration in the AMO system, as benefiting from assistive devices falls under the social protection program.
