iPhone Messages App Faces Issues in iOS 18
Recent reports have indicated problems with the Messages app on iPhones after upgrading to iOS 18, which Apple released last Monday.
After the system's launch, a frustrating bug affecting the Messages app has been observed, though fortunately, it only occurs under very specific conditions.
The issue arises when someone sends an Apple Watch drawing in an iMessage. This action causes the app to crash repeatedly when replying to the message.
This continuous crashing can prevent users from interacting with other conversations as well.
The problem affects both the recipient and the sender of the watch drawing, meaning both parties experience the same issue, which increases the likelihood of it spreading.
While users can attempt to delete the problematic conversation entirely, this solution is unlikely to work as the app tends to crash repeatedly. Even if the deletion is successful, the entire chat history will be lost, including any unsaved photos or videos.
Restoring the deleted conversation also brings the bug back, making it an ineffective solution.
Apple is expected to fix this issue in the first minor update to iOS 18. Typically, Apple addresses reported issues with such updates, though these are not released according to a set schedule.
