A tech expert has confirmed that reducing screen glare and dimming the brightest colors on your iPhone can help conserve battery life.

Many iPhone users are familiar with the frustration of seeing the "low battery" warning pop up on their screens. However, a tech expert has revealed a "hidden" setting that he claims can almost double the device's battery life, according to the Daily Mail.

Reduce White Point

Herby Jasmin, founder of the tech website Gotechtor, explained that the trick lies in adjusting the "Reduce White Point" feature on the iPhone.

This setting makes a small adjustment to the iPhone’s display, reducing glare and dimming the brightest colors. Users can find the Reduce White Point option within the iOS settings on their iPhone.

Jasmin stated, "Since I made this adjustment on my iPhone, I’ve noticed the battery life has almost doubled compared to before." He added that he stumbled upon the Reduce White Point setting while browsing through the settings menu. This feature reduces the intensity of bright colors like green, white, and yellow by dimming them.

Manual Adjustment

Jasmin also pointed out that while the iPhone automatically dims bright colors, users can manually adjust them for even greater control over their intensity.

To enable this feature, users should navigate to Display & Text Size under the Accessibility section in Settings, where they can find the Reduce White Point option.

Doubling Battery Life

Jasmin mentioned that users can also schedule the feature to activate at specific times or when enabling Sleep Focus mode. He explained that reducing the white point helps conserve battery life because the iPhone uses less power by not keeping the display as bright as usual.

Reducing Eye Strain

Additionally, activating Reduce White Point can have the added benefit of reducing eye strain and fatigue. When screen colors are less bright, especially in darker environments, it can ease eye strain and reduce the amount of blue light emitted, which can affect sleep quality.

OLED Displays

Apple is preparing to release its new iPhone 16, which is expected to offer better battery life and feature an OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) display. OLED screens are known to be more comfortable for the eyes compared to previous LED (Light-Emitting Diode) displays.

This simple adjustment may not only help extend your iPhone's battery life but also provide a more comfortable viewing experience.
